Source Magazine Co-Owner Charged With Battery Of Police Officer
Police Say Suspect's Business Partner Threatened To Embarrass Department

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. -- One of the organizers of this week's Source Hip-Hop awards is now at the source of some trouble.
Raymond Scott (pictured, above), co-owner of Source Magazine, is in some hot water with the Miami Beach police department.
Tuesday afternoon, an officer says that he clocked Scott going 64 mph in a 30 mph zone, and says that Scott was driving his Ferrari so erratically that other cars had to swerve to avoid collisions.
When that officer pulled him over, he says that Scott produced a fake driver's license, and according the police report, he punched and kicked the officer as he was being arrested.
Police say that Scott's business partner, David Mays (pictured, below), called following the arrest and made threats. 
"He wanted the charges dropped, and if they weren't dropped he was going to do everything he could to embarrass us. He was going to call Jesse Jackson down here, he was going to call the NAACP," Miami Beach police chief Richard Barreto said.
Scott called a press conference, but abruptly canceled and one of his representatives asked the media to leave.
This morning, police say that Scott should have never been behind the wheel.
"We did a little check on his driving record and we pulled up a four-page litany of charges that really speak of an atrocious driving record. He has been classified as a habitual traffic offender," Barreto said. Scott is now facing a list of charges, including resisting arrest and battery on a police officer.

yeah, that's him. mays and benzino went to miami and everyone else bounced. they say the city was a ghost town. so they throws a party for the made men to perform. because is there any other reason to throw a party?---and nobody went to that shit either. so benzino gets a hard on, fake some incident with a cop and now mays is telllin people to go back there on labor day to protest. fuckin jerks. they couldn't get peoples to go there for a party, how the fuck are they gonna get them to go down there an protest? |

There's more to this story--Dave Mays was on BET Tonight last night with Rev. Ben Chavis Muhammed with a smoking gun re police brutality. They played an audio tape - the other passenger in the car called Dave Mays on cell while the incident was going on and voice mail recorded the beatdown. |
Is Mays for real? Is that the best story he could a made up? Don't he know if you get stoped by a cop you do't reach for nothing!! You go for your cell and bang your toast. Mr Benzino was arrested in Miami the
other night on charges of reckless driving, driving with a suspended
license and possession of marijuana.. and battery on a law
enforcement officer. According to the initial police reports, he was
clocked doing 65 in a 30 mile per hour zone. When pulled over he
started cursing out the officer. When the officer attempted to remove
him from the vehicle, Benzino began punching and kicking the officer.
In Florida that's a big no-no. Benzino and his passenger were
arrested and released on bail.
According to police, after the arrest Source CEO David Mays tried to
pressure them to drop the charges against Benzino. When police
refused, Mays threatened the officers saying that they were going to
call the NAACP and Jesse Jackson. We should also note that Benzino
was identified as a co-owner of The Source Magazine. I guess that
clears up any sort of confusion and speculation as to why Made Men had
received 'favorable' treatment in the past.. If their part owners
what did you expect??
The thing about Benzino's arrest is that it adds to the troubling
events that took place at the Source Afterparty where three people
got stabbed. There was no motive as to who what where and why.. |
