Brace For Impact
|
 |
Impact247 will launch their website on Monday before the Impact Urban Internet Conference. It's supposed to compliment the Impact 247 newsletter. UE brings it to you in advance, much to their chagrin.
The site has a top navigation for the different areas of urban business. It uses simplistic clip art icons to represent everything from music to travel. For example; the marketing icon is a bullhorn, the retail icon looks like a muumuu and that TV icon looks like it belongs to Ralph Kramden. Of course always germane to the business of urban entertainment are horoscopes. They are located on the side under weather. There is an area for content from sidehustle.com, Neomedia soon to be launched job site.
This is the music area. Content like music charts and news about the industry will populate this area. We wonder if they will have the foresight to include links to purchase CD's that make it on the chart. There is a top standard banner ad and a small bottom ad for in-house promotions. There is a bottom frame on some version of the site incorporating community features lifted from blackplanet.com. Oddly, the search is located on the bottom frame. Hopefully this won't make it to launch.
The site has ugly red buttons with horrible drop shadows. Looks like someone created them who ran out of ideas and feeling a bit apathetic about the site. Other buttons are over designed and take up valuable text real estate without actually adding any functionality. It also has an extremely busy layout that's hard to read for longer articles. The site has a black and red color combination that will challenge those trying to print the page.

What's going to happen to impactmag.com?

Sorry, Shan I don't get it
Is this what Vanguarde took so long to do? Pretty generic. Let's hope the "news" coverage is up to par.

now i know that UE is a sham....
what prompts me to state this?? i'm not one to spoil a surprise, but let's just wait and see if the actual impact247 looks exactly like these mockups display it to be....

I don't think it's a horrible thing to incorporate the best elements of successful sites like Blackplanet.com. If you don't do it well, THEN that's what I'll take issue with. After all Blackplanet.com looks almost exactly like Asianavenue.com, the first website from it's parent company, Community Connect. |

I'll suspend my judgement until I see
the 'put or shut up' at the conference,
especially since Keith was professional
enough to holler back at me out of respect
for him at least addressing his detractors.
Is that a picture of Barry? I'm looking
forward to hearing the following:
Candace Purdie, blackplanet
Hype Williams
Denmark West, Microsoft
Phyllis Wooley, Colgate-Palmolive
Kevin Dowdell, volume.com
And of course my favorite Republican my main

I'll be the guy asking all those annoying questions,

EXCLUSIVE!!! TOP 5 HIPHOP RUMORS OF THE MONTH!!!
1) News that underground acts such as Common and Mos Def have both gone gold has to please many in the Hip-Hop community as these longtime rappers are finally getting there's. And now word has it that Mos Def's partner in Black Star (whose first album also found the Midas touch) Talib Kweli newest album is hot as hell!!! Word has it that talib and his spinmeister partner DJ Hi-Tek have really taken it to another level. However, Talib cant just be hoping that his new LP receives critical acclaim which we're all sure it will, but he has to be hoping that he too sells well in order to supprot his new baby, with GET THIS, a WG!!! Thats right people, word has it that Mr. Black Star, Mr. Back-to-Africa, Mr. wannabe revoltionary not only prefers the touch of the Devil's Maiden, but has also conceived a child with the cavebitch. Alright Talib!!! We're pulling for you and judging from the advance copy we got of your newest LP, we're sure Mary Sue will be quite happy.
2) MASTA KILLA TO SPEAK!!! Will he or wont he??? Are we the only ones to notice that the Wu-Tang's wekaest lyricist has rarely uttered a word in the press? Well, word has it that with a new album on deck (after we all get to hear the much anticipated Cappadonna's newest LP!!!) Masta Killa will finally have to step up to th plate and promote his own album! Then again, while he was still in the lab and pull an ODB and give a fuck-u to all the pen pushers, word has it the RZA came down hard on that idea and demanded that Masta come out of his shell. Plus too, with ODB's last work still trying to reach lead status, it probably wouldn't be a good idea for Masta to kep his mouth shut. Now maybe we can finally find out why this guy talks about slaughtering people all the time, how he hell he got on the He Got Game soundtrack and last, but certainly not least, why he suckerpunched writer Cheo Coker at an industry party a few years back.
3) Has anyone seen the back of the newest Hot Boys album Baller Blockin'? With those idiots posing with gats in several different captions. Let's just come out and say it, Cash Money's 15 minutes of fame are just about up with no more time to spare. Like the No Limit camp , there beats are getting weaker and weaker with each new album. And even more frankly, these guys are some of the most ignent fucks you'll ever run into. Mannie Fresh is a sucker. Baby cant rap for his life. BG is a heroin addict. Lil' Wayne is an idiot and will forever be an idiot. Juvenile is overarted and Turk, oh c'mon now, who gives a damn about him.
4) CARLITO RODRIQUEZ FIRED!!! Well, he should be. Has anyone been checking The Source lately??? Forget the Music awards show already, because the 'zine is in need of some serious help......fast. Littered with editorial mistakes, bad grammer, holier-than-thou newjacks, so-called writers and of course, an almighty mic rating that basically sucks unles of course, you're in or down with David Mays bitch-ass Made Men crew! An Carlito's Editorials! Can anyone say YIKES?!? Littered with "fuck that"'s, "Na. papi"'s and the always useful misnomer "Yo, yo, yo", this guys stuff reads like the book reports of your average NY 5th grader on acid. Someone please get rid of this guy with the quickness before The Source finally really does go under. Besides Puerto Ricans like Carlito should be busy making more illiterate kids (doesnt he already have like 8???), not editing a major mag.
5) Forget all these other so-called "urban' websites can someone at urbanexpose finally get to reporting on the latest at DEEZNUTS.com! This site, which has been known about in the underground for years is THE epicenter of urban culture with its on-point cub reporting, 2 color webpages, ghetto chatrooms and 10 person membership. Y'all go check it out now. And tell 'em that you heard about it here first. |
Okay, it may just be me, but I think the best up and coming Urban site is Tastemakers.com . A true business with online and offline products that people really want and use.
I just don't understand how these other sites spend millions on bogus sites with no clear way of making a profit.
Now tastemakers.com is still a beta site, not fully launched yet, but it still is better that 90% of the entertainment site on the web today. This is just the beginning.. |

Christopher Adjani, I went to tastemakers and I see the direction you're going, I'm feelin ya but as a content site you're going the same route as 360hiphop and the others did. Unless you have a broadband connection (which I do), then you really can't enjoy your site. Now I'm not knocking your use of flash, my personal site (which i'm still working on) is a site that you can't fully utilize without a broadband connection and my past projects have been flash heavy but the average user is still using 56k modems so you've got to cater to them as well which is why all these "urban" sites look like they use the same damn template. Just a thought man, and I wish you all the success in the world. |
Word, I peeped that tastemakers joint too. One of the thing that bugs me about all these "urban" sites is that all of the use all this Flash and have sound and gimmicks as thier main attraction... cuz you all know you don't have any fuckin' content... when the most likely demographic for their product is inne-city kids and studenst that access the web primarily at libraries and school where all of the gimmicks are not gonna be practical to view... and some might be completely inaccessible. Why have an "urban" site that shuts out people from "urban" areas???
Second, I am tired of all these Flash based sites that have "contact us" button but never actually tell the frickin' e-mail address... I don't have a real e-mail account that just pops up when you click and e-mail link and niether do most "urban" heads... we use FREE SHIT. Give us a site that we can use!
As someone who used to work with a brotha that got swollowed up by UBO I think that yall people have gone so far off the jiggy-meter that you've forgotten how to make a practicle, quality product for the audience.
|
The reality is that the Internet is a failing prospect for the majority of people who enter this game: urban or non. The Wall Street Journal ran an article today discussing the 90% club--individuals who lost 90% of their value since March. Millionaires are no longer millionaires. The track record of most sites isn't great because the people getting in have no experience and blow mad loot expected to get bought out. If they don't, they're out of luck. I think Russell Simmons did it smart. He got in when there was hype around urban online; guaranteed his peeps loot and juice and now he's selling to get the fuck out. Granted, he'll be there on a consulting basis. But everyone who thought they were running to be with the winner, got served in the ass. HAHAHAHAHAHA. Maybe Kimora was on vacation!! |

urbanetikz_thetan_2 ,
You make a good point. I myself, am guilty of the pop up email thing and that's a point well taken. From now on I will make it a point to use an email form instead. The wealth of information about what users like and dislike here is invaluable and I hope some of these companies are taken note. I'm in the process of redesign a hip hop magazines website for a January 2001 relaunch and I take into consideration everything that's been stated on these boards. Keep on posting. |
Like I said earlier, tastemakers.com is in beta.
The current version of the site is all built using Flash, not to be showy and hide the fact that we don't have a ton of content at this moment, its just a better way to design. The flash environment allows us to give you an experience. The site is meant to entertain the viewer, let them experience people and places out of their reach. The site is for the people of the world, not just a single market or group.
Everyone wants to enjoy life and have fun. That is what tastemakers.com is about. Give people access to life!
Now, about email forms and direct linking email. The site has both.
I think everyone will be surprised when we fully launch, we are nothing like 360hiphop, UBO, or any other site on the web. I know you can't see it now, but in time I hope you will.
Great things are happening. |

Chris,
yo man, just a bit of advice: drop the flash from the site.
You know my biggest gripe is that many of these urban sites target broke-ass losers that likes to hang around on the Internet and chat all day about stupid shit. These are the same losers who got time to view a flash presentation. How many motherfuckers you know watch the entire intro of a videogame before playing? At least the videogame is interactive compared to these content sites...
What kills me is the high percentage of Black mature Internet users with loot on the Internet but all these urban sites can target is college students who haven't started to pay back their college loan...
I will give credit to NetNoir, they changed from a whack ass site to something now that I might visit regulary and spend my money at. Dave must have done something right by firing all those losers with nice titles at his firm.
|
what's with the multiple windows action at tastemakers?? maybe i'm the only one who thinks its annoying when browsing a site adds needless clutter to your toolbar. some sound on/off buttons would be nice too. but overall, the site is fly.
also, chris, what's with the name tastemakers? no offense, but the name implied to me that youre a bakery or something...
damn it feels good to be a gangsta |
Great story from BBC News (not a typical urban news portal):

Who Killed Lumumba?
On 17th January 1961 Patrice Lumumba, first and only elected Prime Minister of Congo, was murdered. The circumstances of his death remained a mystery, the identity of his killers unknown.
Now, forty years later, fresh scrutiny of documents held in government vaults and the testimony of those who were there at the time reveal a story of international intrigue and betrayal.
* * * * * * * * * * *
Some damn good journalism there... |
Tastemakers.com looks like someones portfolio!
Sure! I can use flash!
Flash sites are wack... they don't load fast enough... you can't update the info on them quickly.
Flash is just a trick we designers use to get big checks... not make useful sites.
Chris I suggest you learn some HTML and be practical!
|
Once again, the white man has blinded us with his wiles - Macromedia Flash! (I say AYEE-men; Content is good, all the time!) He has blinded these "urban portals" to the fact that us "urban" types CAN ACTUALLY read and write (Lawd!). So the Vanguardes of this world have been convinced by the Devil himself, that if you morph your shapes well with lots of pretty colors, the "urbanites" will come! I mean, c'mon - if you don't want us to know anything, put it in a book, right?
Or on a website? (Tsk, tsk!) |
Okay.. my dumb question/comment for the day? Is Impact247.com going to REPLACE Impactmag.com??

First of, Her Utopia made a good ass point, one that I have been trying to make of late and that is that all of theses sites seem to be a way to keep people in a state of stupidity. The brotha that designed the tastemakers joint ( does that site have anything to do with James Lewis??? ) said it himself, he is trying to "entertain" scince when is the internet supposed to be mindless entertainment a-la T.V???
He also said he's trying to show people a life style that is out of their grasps and this to me is the work of the devil. Why can't we be more responsible to our communities and instead of showing some hoochie in a sequined dress getting buzzed off Alize ( yes that is exactly what the tastemakers Flash animation shows ) give people some thought provoking articles? Or at least some info that they might find usefull relating to entertainment?
Second, for Roosevelt Franklin to get so pissed about a comments made about Ricans and then to turn around and pepper his post with the word faggot is just stupid. How you gonna get mad about someone slandering Ricans and then turn around and use a slur??? Don't get me wrong, gay pride is the last thing on my list but dayum... that just don't make no sense. And Roosevelt, if you are so worried about the illiterate Ricans why don't you go and teach them how to read instead of designing another PLATFORM NETWORK affiliated web-site. You're bild to that facts that... You're blind baby!
|
You got me confused with someone else. I ain't design shit, and I'm still sayin' fuck that homo Roy Hobbs. Check this: let's take care of the enemy first, let's focus in on who the real enemy is first, and then whatever problems we have with in our own family, we'll take care of with in the family. What is this shit about teaching "them " how to read? Don't tell me you as bad as this fool... |
Impact 247 is up and running.
Hopefully they'll update the content (at least 10 days old...and much of it borrowed) before their "official" launch tomorrow (Monday). |
Hey Roosevelt, the real FDR wouldn't be such a gay basher. In fact you could learn a great deal on how to argue your point with a bit more class if you read about a President who was in a wheelchair. |
I'm just tired of seeing the SAME 5 hiphop rumors of the month. These were posted somewhere else already and are dull, even if they are true. Leave the cut and paste buttons alone. |
I remember reading a couple of posts on this site that indicated that they believed UE to be owned by Vanguarde. You know, after receiving this email about the Impact 247 conference and downloading the conference stuff, I am now convinced of the theory that Vanguarde is indeed the owner. And oh yeah...then there was the Shaan post where he initially posted Keith's email addy and then poof its x'd out. I'm not much of a conspiracy theorist but suddenly today all the UE roads are pointing to Vanguarde to me. So, I say we need to step it up with the Keith bashing. If he owns it, he really needs to know how "loved" he really is. hee! hee! |

The Platinum & Ice Concert Shut Down
From SOHH.com. At $95.00 a ticket, the Platinum & Ice Concert was going to be hot (the event was partially sponsored by UBO): Cuban Linx, Shyne, Mya, Nelly, Lil Kim, and Jay-Z. But the show on October 13th at Nassau Coliseum was not. Shyne had to perform twice and the no-where-near-sold-out crowd waited nearly 6 hours to see the headliner, Jigga-man himself. Unfortunately, due to organizational problems, the plug was pulled fifteen minutes into his set. The music was stopped, the lights came on, and everyone was told to go home. Not surprisingly then, two people were clapped at the after party. Promoter Rodney A. Morrison of RAM JAM, Inc. has been relatively silent about the fiasco, but he did jump into his car and book from the scene at the Coliseum before the crowd started a riot. This was a show that could've easily been over within two or three hours and the crowd could have been soothed with some music in between sets, but it seems money was the biggest priority that night, not hip-hop.

Beat Tycoon,
Not that your post isn't newsworthy, however,
I'm at a lost at to why anyone would willing
pay to see:
1. Shyne (two singles at best on that frisbee)
2. Cuban Linx (Tupac with an accent aka JuanPac)
3. Mya (video divas should stick to BET)
4. Lil' Kim (the new album turned me into a
Foxy Brown cat, and I can't stand that broad)
5. Nelly (The fame clock on this cat reads 14:59)
6. Jay-Z (I'd rather listen to Reasonable Doubt Vol 1)
I am however, overjoyed to see that UBO has once again
failed to understand the urban mindset (trademark that).
Did anyone smell a conspiracy when their were
rumbles about www.tastemakers.com? Just wondering... |

Also, re the email "xxx'ing", UE always does that in the body of posts, as most good message board owners/hosts do. That way the page can't be scoured for email addresses, as you have to click on the person's name to get their email address.

it was x'd out about 15 minutes after he posted it. so it's not like there was a filter that prevents the posting of e-mail addresses.
another note, e-mail collector software spiders the html source code (not the browser generated version), that's where the e-mail addresses are. it doesn't matter if the e-mail address is a part of a link or posted by itself. |
Tastemakers is cool. But why do you web cats not allow the user to click back? I hate that shit. I tried to click back and all of a sudden I had 8 pages loading. Just some advice from a user, don't do that. It doesn't entice me to come back |

Well, thanks! I've been bumping that since I got my press copy, actually. Bahamadia is a cool Queen, I interviewed her for STRESS and I'm feeling her. I hope she makes it this go 'round, however with the recent demise of Atomic Pop, Goodvibe's distro is up in the air, so who knows what may happen? There's another ILL female lyricist on GoodVibe called Mystic - she used to be with Digital Underground. Definitely be on the lookout for her as well...

BeatTycoon,
I'm getting ready to launch the first site in a couple of weeks (take vacation next week to put it on the web).
I'm launching Blaklife.com pretty soon in a couple of weeks. This is a webzine where anyone can contribute content on Black-orientated issues and lifestyles.
I believe everyone has a story to tell and want Blaklife.com to be that outlet. I too, am frustrated by reading watered down content that is approved for adverisers, not readers. So Blaklife uses a peer-to-peer model where we can talk about anything we won't without some egotistic editorial board worrying about "our image". So you will probably read about real issues like getting caught up paying for a used geo with 21% interest rate to how to cheat or deal with workplaces hostile to people of color. Real shit written by everyday people or people living the life, not the watered down stuff written by Black aristocrats with nice jobs as writers.
The site will launch internationally supporting French, German, Spanish and Portugues and Itailian. It won't take much to support additional languages, even non-Roman characters.
On the commerce side, I'm thinking using the PayPal 1-click system that allow readers to pay authors directly (on honor system) for their content. But I want to pull this off in a way so writers don't look like beggars. Having e-books is not hard to implement also if the demand is there, either.
Although I put a lot of initial investment into it, Blaklife will be supported through underwriting and private contributions.
In terms of distribution, it can use XML, WAP and AvantGo to support mobile devices.
On the technological side, the site does uses collaborative filtering, algorithmic rankings, etc...
History of Blaklife? Blaklife was a loose Black online community ran primarily by college students back in 93-96. So I'm taking the site back to the roots of community without the commericialized and media hype.
The funny thing is my newborn calls for me every two hours while I'm programming this site in the middle of the night. So I usually end up typing with one hand while burping the baby with the other The only reason why I brought this up is so you can compared the little guy like me handling a newborn and launching a Black-orientated site against these other "urban execs" with loot who are currently promoting vaporwebs (sites that only exists or successful in the mind&media). |
Oh okay, yeah I see now. IndiePlanet logo hats and Lukeworld thongs and shit like that.
Thank goodness!

Beat,
I can discuss on email basis with you but from my experience, the best way to promote a site is consistly through EUR email newsletter. They reach about a million people and don't charge much. Second, with my old dying site Blackindex, I learned to establish solid linking relationships with many of the smaller sites to stabilize a flow of people. For example, one site, Black Mirages was delivering 3x me more referrals a day than Black Enterprise when they linked to my site. Mostly Black-orientated pic sites deliver the most linking referrals. |

Well if I was searching for e-mail addresses it's actually easier to right click on your name and select Copy Shortcut (IE) or Copy Link Location (Netscape), than it is to drag over the desired text, then select copy. |
I am disappointed urbanexpose. Where is the witty
condescending commentary that I have grown to know
and love? Are you sure this isn't just a forum to
get feedback so that you can read these comments and
improve on your own site? My time is limited - give
me some info I can really get excited about - I used
to need to come to your site everyday just to see what
was going on and now weeks pass and I don't miss anything. |

Ed, I'm feeling you totally. I'm in the process of creating two "black" sites. One for someone unknowns with a few good ideas and another for a pretty respected property that I connected with and was allowed to bring my ideas to. It also invloves a peer to peer sort of solution as well as ebooks written by black authors, poets, and striving COMIC BOOK artists and writers. The parallel with you is amazing as I too code into all hours of the night holding my baby in one hand. As a young black and self employed (and actually making money) brother, I think its important for us little guys who really have our hearts in it, to show these big guys how to get things done without blowing millions of cash in one month. I look forward to your venture and maybe once ours is done (expected to launch in January) we can hook up and show some kind of solidarity. Good luck, Ed. Also anybody wishing to publish ebooks and aren't sure how to do it, hit up my email, especially those who create their own comic books. One luv.... |
awww..how heartwarming
so nice of you to share your singular commonality to ed with the rest of us. (pssst..i think that's why the email address appears in the status bar of your browser when you mouseover the name) now, shut up
why DO ue's articles keep getting shorter and appearing with less frequency? i suspect there's not much more to be expose[d] about this industry.
also, as pandora pointed out, what happened to all the shit-talkin that used to go on here? this site is startin to fall off....
id also like to point out that i was correct (again) about impact247.com...there is no travel section, the fashion button does not look like a mumu, etc....overall, the subtle differences between the comps posted here and the actual impact247 site make the actual site more visually appealing.

UE - I'm not feeling the love in this thread,
I'm also not feeling the content of this article
can you guys holler at me if you need some content?
Onward and upward. "For the right price, I'll make

My thoughts (still in progress) so far, not so bad,
not so great...ah, the j.o. paid for it, so I'm not
complaining. Keith, Vanguarde is flooded with eye
candy, I may have to start Tommin' my way into your

Shaan, the new slogan is good. I like it. I just wish it were stanker though--offensive even. Oh yeah, we need a logo. How bout a hand giving the finger? You know if Vanguarde was in charge, there would be a picture of a black woman rolling her eyes or something like that. But the middle finger works for me. Yeah..that's it! Shaan's slogan and the middle finger logo. Comments? I LOVE IT!! Let's put that part of STANK development to bed. Onward and upward. First editorial meeting is when? hee! hee! |

Will the real BYTCHES log on...
At this mornings conference I met a young
lady that handed me a business card while
trying to get her network on. I was floored
when I noted the following url:
http://www.bytchproof.com/
So, I dashed to laptop and checked it out,
in the hopes that this was some next s**t.
When you get a moment click on by and let's
discuss why someone felt there was a viable
niche out there to exploit and bought this url.
Also met a cat from CODE who swears that this is
not an alternative sexual preference publication,
but rather one that encompasses the full range of
men of color and their interests. Needless to say,
he found my attitude a little too STANK (plug one,
plug two, plug three - De La's new joint is hot) for
his tastes and walked off in a huff. You go girl.

Why can't we think on a global level? Can't we come off the domestic, penny-ante bs and become global players??
Did anyone know that the Fugees bought a radio station in Germany?
How black people in Europe, Asia (yes they do like hip hop in Kuala Lumpur), and on the Continent?
what about:
http://www.blackbritain.co.uk
http://www.blacknet.co.uk
http://www.webstar.com.gh
http://www.africast.com
http://www.africa.com
etc., etc. why be urban portal peons when you can be a Global player on the continent and invited to the World Economic Forum by the age of 30??
|
ps
did you know that you can get a hotel/airfare package to greece, cyprus (do i hear garage in aiya napa) for only 99 quid on www.bargainholidays.co.uk and a or a week skiing in sweden/switzerland for $500 on www.skyauction.com?? I get so tired of hearing, "wow I didn't know you people like to travel....."
|
shaan,
went to bytchproof.com and i wasn't impressed with the content or design...anyway the concept is interesting however the features were blurbs and i didn't see a a respond page...
when you received the biz card did she explain her purpose for the site.
it could be used as a forum but it has a ways to go
peace |
I also wonder what the purpose of this bytchproof.com site is. i wouldn't visit it again...no news and all the same rhetoric. plus the layout is corny. it's one big shout out site. i think the STANK logo should be one big behind mooning folks with attitude. |

OK - Since this ia a Impact story, I have to say that Vanguarde did a great job (for the first time out) on the Urban Internet Conference.
I really enjoyed the forum (especially the Internet Smackdown) with Crispus Attacks.....
I am interested in what everyone else thought that went to the conference.
I sent out over 100 emails today from all the business cards I received. So this sister is saying "thank you Vanguarde" and "thank you" to the person who decided to do a "urban" track at Internet World...

dlo,
If I owned blingbling.com I'll feature stuff that people can't afford or have without brothers trying to make them ante up. You know stuff like 75k+ cars, jewelry, exotic vacation getaways, custom wardrobes, remodeling your home in the hood, strip club etiquette, etc. Feature articles on playahating stories. People pay $3.99 to see other rappers front their stuff on the Box all the time, believe me, there is a market. |
Anybody read the EXTRA-wack interview with Keith in this week's Adweek? Talk about an interviewer not knowing her subject! That chick asked him the lamest, nobrainer questions: "what is urban?" "how did you get started?" "would you feature a white person on one of your covers- besides Eminem?" "what's Honey about?" He coulda given answers to those pathetic questions in his sleep. I had a deeper conversation with Keith at the Honey party at Impact! |

Ms. Bee,
those questions that white lady was anything but stupid. Her questions are very valid.
Given the fact that the biggest consumers of 'urban market' are white kids from the surburbs, she has every right to ask those questions from her perspective like we asked why timberland markets only to moutainmen....
To be honest, I still don't know the answer to what is urban....or what Honey is about..... |

a brother continues to shamelessly plug an idea with no editorial content,
viable business model or marketing strategy...Now that's URBAN Entertainment).

Shaan, I really like your name for BET. I'd been using "Black EGGnorant and Trifling." You know, some of us don't say IGnorant. We say EGGnorant. So I thought how appropriate. But I've been using it for quite some time so it's time to retire it. I think I'll cop yours. Both are very STANK but such is life. Buffoon Entertainment Travesty. Buffoon Entertainment Travesty. But I guess with all of the rappers flossing, the kids in bubblefuck want to be down as well for a fraction of the cost!!!
